RCS is run and managed by Ian Goodyer but various consultants, advisors and colleagues are brought in to help on specific projects as required. For instance, RCS has close working relationships with KAnalysis who provide bespoke IP landscaping, prior art and freedom to practice searches, Inngot who provide intellectual asset identification, promotion and valuation services. These services are brought in to assist in the projects as required.

Our principle consultant, Ian Goodyer, specialises in helping people and organisations commercialise new ideas and to develop them to the point where they can be manufactured and sold. Through his own company, Ian has brought his own products to market and as part of Amersham he was part of a large team that brought a very complex system to the pharmaceutical market. He is an inventor on 10 patent applications and has successfully applied for and has been granted two Europe wide trade marks. Ian is very clear on the patenting process, its costs and the timing of the costs and can help guide an entrepreneur take a strategic approach to intellectual property. - As a business consultant specialising in technology transfer and commercialisation of new ideas. Ian was a specialist consultant for the SEEDA run East Sussex Enterprise Hub and ESBH Innovation and Growth Team for over three years where he helped high-tech, high-growth companies to succeed by offering a number of intensive support services to a range of micro-businesses across East Sussex and Brighton who were looking to commercialise new ideas. He has also worked over a long period as for 1 to 1 business advisor for Beepurple, at the University of Brighton. Beepurple supports U. Brighton staff, students and alumni who are setting up in business and Ian offers 1 on 1 confidential advice to Beepurple members on their business issues. Ian has advised over 200 companies and budding entrepreneurs on setting up their own business, helped companies raise over £5m in seed funding from banks, grants and business angels, read and input
into over 80 business plans and hundreds of grant applications. Ian is currently a business development manager at Inngot where he helps Universities and businesses to leverage their IP to their full extent. He is a fully qualified SFEDI Mentor with the IoEE - As the founder and director of a photonics company which translates photonics research into new products for industry and academia, Ian is not only a business advisor but an entrepreneur himself. Ian has successfully brought a concept all the way through to a manufactured, CE marked sellable product, raised funds for his own business and continues to push it forwards. He is currently helping to revolutionise a totally new way to do spectroscopy that has a lot of advantages over current grating based methods.
